Biography:

Dr Vivek Sharma joined Colonial Orthopaedics after finishing his fellowship training at Harvard sports medicine and cartilage repair center in Boston, Massachusetts. He provides a full spectrum of care for individuals who suffer from cartilage damage in the knee. A full range of contemporary treatment options are used, to help restore damaged cartilage and to maximize the level of function for the patients. Many of these surgeries are performed arthroscopically through small incisions and usually require no more than an overnight hospital stay.
A thorough understanding of the predisposing factors associated with the cartilage damage, such as joint stability, alignment and meniscal function needs to be understood and incorporated into any treatment plan if necessary. Treatment options are selected based upon individual patient needs; matching the physical demands and expectations of the patient's lifestyle and addressing contributing pathology.
Dr.Sharma’s special interests include arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgeries, innovative hip arthroscopic procedures for hip pain and hip impingement, biologic joint preservation procedures for young patients with arthritis.
Our sports medicine physicians are board certified, fellowship-trained specialists in sports medicine. These physicians take a comprehensive approach to treating sports injuries, which includes superior diagnostics, physical therapy, pain management, and when necessary, the latest surgical techniques. Regardless of the level of the athlete—recreational, high school, college, or professional— our physicians at Colonial Orthopaedics strive to provide the highest quality, state-of-the-art health care services.
