Our physicians and therapists work closely to ensure that our patients maximize functional mobility to enable independence.

Rehabilitation

The Rehabilitation Department is equipped with state of the art strengthening equipment and anti-inflammatory modalities. We are prepared to treat injuries to all extremities and injuries to the spine. Diagnoses include sprains, strains, overuse and work injuries.  Treatments include customized exercise programs, spinal stabilization, manual treatment of the spine and extremities, soft tissue mobilization and patient education.

We stress postures, ergonomics and body mechanics to help our patients develop healthy, lifelong habits and movement patterns.

Our close working relationship with the physicians allows for easy communication and access to patient diagnostic test results and operative reports. Informed care promotes maximal outcomes and satisfied patients.

Hand Therapy

The art and science of rehabilitation of the upper quarter of the human body

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a highly specialized clinician who provides an expert approach to the evaluation and treatment of any orthopedic or arthritic condition of the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. A Hand Therapist will incorporate modalities, manual therapy and exercises to reduce pain, restore range of motion, and increase strength. This will facilitate improved independence in self-care, work or leisure pursuits. Overall, the ultimate goal of Hand Therapy is the prevention of dysfunction, the restoration of function, and the reversal of the progression of pathology. Achievement of these goals will promote willing participation in meaningful activity and ensure a more successful return to work and home management roles.

Hand Therapists offer services in the following areas:

  • Prevention: Through work site analysis, ergonomic education, stretching techniques and joint protection education / adaptive equipment
  • Conservative management: For sprains, tendonitis, nerve compressions, and arthritis
  • Post-operative care: For wound care, scar management, edema control, individualized exercise programs, and custom splint fabrication

The Hand Therapy department offers extended hours of operation for your convenience.
