Medical Records

At Colonial Orthopaedics, your medical record is strictly confidential. We will not release any information about you, to anyone, without your consent to do so. All x-rays performed at our office remain the property of Colonial Orthopaedics. We will gladly make copies of your x-rays and reports for referring physicians or other medical professionals who might need them to provide you care. Please allow several working days to process any requests for your medical records. Copies of medical records and x-rays are available upon request for a minimal fee.

Financial Arrangements

Colonial Orthopaedics participates with most major insurance carriers. If you have any questions regarding our insurance participation, please contact our business office at (804) 526-5893.

As a service to our patients, we will file your claims with your insurance carrier. Please remember that your insurance is a contract between you and your carrier and that you are ultimately responsible for the charges for all services provided to you, including co-payments, deductibles, and any non-covered services. If you are uncertain about the amounts of these payments, please contact your employer or insurance carrier to become familiar with the terms of your plan.

Patients involved in litigation are responsible for making payment arrangements prior to receiving services.

If you have any questions regarding your bill from Colonial Orthopaedics, or if you are uninsured or experiencing financial difficulties, please contact our business office at (804) 526-5893, so that we may discuss a mutually acceptable payment plan.

Prescriptions

Whenever possible, please request prescription refills during your office visit. Otherwise, call your pharmacist to determine if there is a refill remaining on your prescription. If there are no refills available, please call our office at least 24 hours before you run out of your medication, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This will provide adequate time to review your medical record and determine if a refill is warranted. Prescriptions for narcotics cannot be filled after office hours or on weekends.

To best assure our patient safety, it is our policy not to prescribe new medications or narcotics, without the benefit of a patient examination.
